Second info city in capital city soon: Surya Narayan Patra, Minister

Information technology minister Surya Narayan Patra on Wednesday announced that the construction work for second info city in the capital city here would begin soon.
The announcement of the minister came at a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat here.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Patra said that the second info city would be set up at a distance of 20 km from Bhubaneswar in an area of 681 acre of land belonging to five villages.
The state government would acquire 56 acres of land from Durgapur Mouza, 227 acres from Gousa Kasipur Mouza, 56 acres from Harekrushnapur Mouza, 156 acres from Arisai Mouza and 204 acres from Haripur Mouza.

He said that the process of land acquisition has been expedited with close interaction with the revenue and disaster management department and forest department.
For construction of the proposed info city, the state government has entrusted the work to Monarch Architect, a Pune-based architect company, he added.
Replying to a question, the minister said that the IT performance in the state in the 2006-07 fiscal has leapfrogged with a record export of software worth Rs 732 crore by a total of 32 IT companies that was 48 percent higher (Rs 485 crore) compared to the 2005-06 fiscal.
Three premiere IT companies- Satyam, Infosys and TCS and 29 other IT companies had exported the software during the period, the minister said and added that the 29 small and medium IT companies had alone accounted for Rs 51.45 crore of software export.
Stating that the future of IT in Orissa would be definitely brighter due to the favourable IT policy of the state government.
As a result, while 14 IT companies have been registered in the state in the last year, another 19 companies have been registered this year, Patra pointed out.
